Personal:

My proudest moment in my career was either winning the 60 Hurdles at the MIAC Indoor Championships as a freshman or winning the 400 Hurdles at the MIAC Outdoor Championships as a junior.

I am majoring in Economics and I am hoping to use what I have learned in school and apply it to my full time position. After graduation I hope to become a business analyst, financial analyst, or a consultant. I want to genuinely make a difference in my work. That being said, I want to get involved on the business side of health care.

I chose Saint Johns because of how welcoming it was every time I visited. I loved the tradition, the atmosphere, and I was able to participate in athletics.

My funniest memory on the team would have to be when Drew ordered a full rack of ribs during one of our team dinners. He was about $15 over the suggested price of our meals. I will never forget it.

Q & A:

Q: Which coach would you pick to live on a deserted island with and why?

A: Jeremy. He is cool, calm, and collected and would love to just chill. He could also scare off any wild creatures if he really tried to grow out his beard.

Q: If you were in the coliseum and were challenged to fight wiener dogs, what is the highest number of wiener dogs you could defeat?

A: My aunt used to own a couple wiener dogs. Two of them could have taken me back in the day. However, I think I could fend off 10.

Q: Would you rather be the world's greatest racquetball player or have $20 right now?

A: Definitely the world's greatest racquetball player. Oddly enough, my old nanny is married to the 11th ranked racquetball player in the United States. He goes to tournaments and makes a lot more than $20.

The proudest moment of my athletic career would have to be anytime I run the steeplechase.

I am a Communication major. My goal after graduation is to get a job and not live in my parents basement.

I chose St. John’s because it’s a beautiful campus and I can be an athlete and a student.

There isn’t just one funniest memory or moment that stands out to me. Any interview before practice is normally a good time.

Q & A:

Q: Which coach would you pick to live on a deserted island with and why?

A: Jeremy because he’s the youngest.

Q: If you were in the coliseum and were challenged to fight wiener dogs, what is the highest number of wiener dogs you could defeat?

A: At least 7. Maybe 83.

Q: Would you rather be the world's greatest racquetball player or have $20 right now?

A: Worlds greatest racquetball player because I could smelt the trophy down for more than $20. First fame, then fortune.

Personal:

My major is Communications. I'm not 100% sure where I want to take my academic career yet. Fortunately, Communications lets me explore lots of different areas of interest. I truly believe in the value of a Liberal Arts education and I feel that this major allows me to carry out this education in the most effective and engaging way. It's my goal to participate in Notre Dame's Alliance for Catholic Educators (ACE) program. This is a program that would allow me to teach in underprivileged schools around the country. After that... endless possibilities.

I chose St. John’s because the opportunities are unlike any others. Here at St. John's, I'm able to compete in track & cross country, sing in a choir, be a part of a leadership program, and grow in my faith. Everything I looked for in a college, I found here at SJU.

One of the funniest memories from my track career is from high school. I had a teammate in high school I always held blocks for every race. Whenever the starter would give his commands I'd say "yes chef, right away chef." That was just our thing. That became a team motto and everyone would just say "yes chef" all the time. It was incredible.

Q & A:

Q: Which coach would you pick to live on a deserted island with and why?

A: This is a really difficult question, but it has got to be Tim Miles. I'm telling you, there's no way we're getting off that island! However, Tim's stories would keep me entertained plenty.

Q: If you were in the coliseum and were challenged to fight wiener dogs, what is the highest number of wiener dogs you could defeat?

A: This is morally challenging, I would never willingly defeat wiener dogs. However, if I had to; easily 48.

Q: Would you rather be the world's greatest racquetball player or have $20 right now?

A: Racquetball. Having great obscure talents is a beautiful thing. I can already picture myself participating in an intramural team and working my way up to Olympic competition. Would I make $20 being an amateur Racquetball god? No, but it's worth it.

I am a Theology and Political science double major. I plan on attending Law school. After graduation, I am volunteering in Uganda for a year with the Benedictine Volunteer Corps.

I chose Saint John’s for the incredible monastic community that surrounds it.

The funniest moment was probably when Henry called Tim and said he asked a random guy where ‘lovers lane’ is. The guy thought he was hitting on him, when in reality he was looking for our workout spot.

Q & A:

Q: Which coach would you pick to live on a deserted island with and why?

A: Jeremy, he could best defend us and something tells me he knows how to survive outside with no tools.

Q: If you were in the coliseum and were challenged to fight wiener dogs, what is the highest number of wiener dogs you could defeat?

A: Honestly, two is pushing it.

Q: Would you rather be the world's greatest racquetball player or have $20 right now?

A: $20, I could really go for a snack and I have no money.

My proudest moment was breaking the school record in the 100m dash at the Bolstorff Twilight Meet and sending the 4x100 team to nationals at the UW-LaCrosse Last Chance meet while simultaneously breaking the school record.

I am an English Major, with a focus in Creative Writing and a Psychology Minor. My personal goals with my major are to learn how to write well and expand my knowledge of the language I naturally speak.

After graduation I would love to become a freelance writer that creates stories to share to others, or a journalist that reports on the fascinating world we live in today. If I were to aim for any plans with the psychology minor, I'd look towards helping those who sustain mental disabilities. I have always enjoyed offering a helping hand to those who may need it. Lastly, I'd hope to coach for a track team someday, and teach everybody how to be super speedy.

There were many things that attracted me to St. John’s. The St. John's community is so closely-knit that you could make a blanket out of it. I immediately felt welcomed when I toured here for the first time, and my impressions of the college haven't changed since. I've met so many different people who are always ready for a good time to talk or be involved in something, especially on weekends. Furthermore, I'm someone who prefers to be outdoors, and nothing feels more relaxing to me than walking around the vast forests which encompass St. John's. It's simply paradise.

Sometimes, it's hard to believe that I wasn't raised in Wisconsin, because I LOVE cheese. My coaches and teammates soon discovered this on our trip to La Crosse for the NCAA Championships. At about the halfway point, we stopped at a pizza parlor. When we walked in, I was wearing a dark green t-shirt which had the words "powered by cheese" printed on it. Most of the people on the team knew that I liked cheese, but the real question was "how much did I like it?". They would soon find out the answer.
When we got to the register, I ordered a cheese pizza (wow, big surprise there), and we all sat down waiting for our orders. When the pizzas came to us, we all started eating. I ate a couple pieces, but then I realized that there was a parmesan cheese shaker in the middle of the table. Despite its pricey reputation, parmesan is by far my favorite type of cheese, so I asked Charlie Haik to pass it down to me.

As soon as I received the shaker, I took off the cap, and started to pour mountains of the stuff onto my pizza. This was usually a typical move for me at any place which offered these shakers, but my team didn't know this. When I did that, I looked over at all of them, and I could've sworn that they'd looked like they just saw a pig fly. Since they'd seen that, there's now a theory that cheese is the source to my supersonic speed. Is it true? Probably, I don't have any other explanations for it.

Q & A:

Q: Which coach would you pick to live on a deserted island with and why?

A: Jeremy. Always has a solution for everything.

Q: If you were in the coliseum and were challenged to fight wiener dogs, what is the highest number of wiener dogs you could defeat?

A: Zero. I'm a runner, not a fighter.

Q: Would you rather be the world's greatest racquetball player or have $20 right now?

A: Kwik Trip sounds like an awesome idea at the moment, so I'll take the 20. If I became a racquetball player, I don't think I'd like it too much.

My best moment so far in Johnnie Track and Field is qualifying for the MIAC Indoor Championship and breaking the freshman record.

I am majoring in Integrative Sciences with a pre-med focus. My personal goals within my major are to get the degree and go to graduate school. My career goals and post graduation plans are to go to Medical school or some graduate school, be able to travel and see some stuff. I would love to be able to give back somehow and coach a sports team.

I learned about SJU from a group of Alumni in my hometown and I fell in love with it the first time I took a visit. To me, it feels like home, and that is a quality that not many other schools have. I heard about it by word of mouth and I found that it is even better than it was described.

The funniest moments while on the team are the discussions we have any day at practice. From talking about politics, to what elements can make up life other than Carbon.

Q & A:

Q: Which coach would you pick to live on a deserted island with and why?

A: Initially, I thought the smart choice depended on which coach I could take in a fight if we were starving and push came to shove. Then, realizing that Jeremy would kick my butt, I changed my mind. I would still choose Jeremy because he is a jack of all trades. Also he would grow an awesome "Castaway" beard that I’d like to see.

Q: If you were in the coliseum and were challenged to fight wiener dogs, what is the highest number of wiener dogs you could defeat?

A: It depends on how they would be release. If they attack single file, I can go until you run out of dogs. If they attack all 360 degrees, maybe about 50.

Q: Would you rather be the world's greatest racquetball player or have $20 right now?

A: What I always say is: Give a man $20, feed him for a day. Give a man the talent of racquetball, feed him for two days.

I chose St. John’s because it is far enough away from home to avoid my siblings, but close enough to see my parents. Additionally, I chose this school because of the campus and its alumni connections.

My funniest memory while being on the team so far was watching a relay team run out of steam and softball pitch the baton instead of passing it by hand to the next leg.

Q & A:

Q: Which coach would you pick to live on a deserted island with and why?

A: Tim Miles, I would stay entertained.

Q: If you were in the coliseum and were challenged to fight wiener dogs, what is the highest number of wiener dogs you could defeat?

After graduation I hope to find a way to incorporate track into my life whether it be coaching a high school team, keeping up with track workouts, or staying up to date with the latest track news at SJU.

I chose St. John’s because they had everything I was looking for in a school. They have an outstanding nursing and track program along with a close knit community and a great location. Class sizes are small so you get 1 on 1 teaching from professors and get to develop real relationships with all your professors. The location is perfect for doing any type of sport outdoors at anytime of the year and is a great way to relax and take your mind off the stresses of life.

My funniest memory so far while being on the team is one day at practice we were doing med ball throws for warm ups. All the sprinters decided it would be a good idea to pretend we were tennis players and make the loudest grunting noises possible while throwing med balls. For the next 10 minutes, all you could hear was the sprinters making the weirdest noises you will ever hear.

Q & A:

Q: Which coach would you pick to live on a deserted island with and why?

A: I would pick John Pollack because John is the type of person who would awknowledge that we are stranded on a deserted island and our chances of survival are very low, but he wouldn’t care and would find a way to have fun on the deserted island.

Q: If you were in the coliseum and were challenged to fight wiener dogs, what is the highest number of wiener dogs you could defeat?

My proudest moment was at 2019 Indoor MIAC Championships where I broke two (almost three) school records, claimed two MIAC titles in the 4x200 and 200, and placed second in the 60.

I am a Global Business Leadership major with a Japanese minor. With an internationally-focused major, it's my goal to work abroad and see as much of the world as I can. I love learning about new cultures, traveling, and meeting new people, so I figured a major in Global Business would be the best way to cover all three of these things. As of right now I have no definite plans for after graduation lined up, but I'm hoping to find a job that will let me travel as much as I can.

The sense of community was one thing that really did it for me when I choose to come here. There are quite a few people I knew from high school that went here, so I'd heard a lot about how much of a tight-knit group Johnnies and Bennies were. I didn't realize just how true this was until I got here. You can't go anywhere without running into at least five people you know, and it seems like any alum you meet is willing to do whatever they can in order to help you succeed after school. Another thing that I liked was the dual campuses. They both give you different feels with one being more modern and the other more old school and nature-y. I really like having that variety. I suppose being able to continue running track was a pretty good reason as well.

The funniest memory while being on the team was in 2016. It was freshman year, indoor conference, we're staying at the luxurious five-star Motel 6 in Lakeville, Minnesota. We have a few options for food, but being from the area I know Baldy's BBQ is just a short walk across the parking lot. I go in, immediately see "full rack of ribs" and decide that's what this athlete needs for a hard weekend of competition. I sit down, and since I had gotten there a little later than everyone else, I see everyone else getting their food. All I'm seeing are these little sandwiches, so I ask, "Are you guys not hungry?" A teammate responds, "We are, we just couldn't spend more than $10 on food." My jaw dropped after I heard this and realized I was gonna get a little earful from the coaches after they see what I'd gotten. My teammate asks, "What's with that look? What'd you get?" I respond, "...A full rack of ribs..." They get all wide-eyed and ask how much it was. "...24 dollars..." They all just start laughing, and sure enough, the server comes out calling for the unfortunate soul who ordered a full rack of ribs. I raise my hand, she sets it down, and I get to work hoping I can finish off enough of it before the coaches turn and find out what this noob of a first year had done. I finish all but three ribs before I have to call it quits. It's at this time Joe Vardas turns around and asks me, "Whatcha got there?" I tell him it's a full rack, he just nods and says, "Better run fast tomorrow." The next day I ran a PR in the 200 and place second. A number of teammates came running up to me afterwards yelling, "THE RIBS!" Since then the ribs have come up more times than I can count, but Baldy's once again seemed to work for me in my last ever indoor conference meet!

Q & A:

Q: Which coach would you pick to live on a deserted island with and why?

A: Jeremy. He listens to a lot of different podcasts, so I'm sure he's picked up a thing or two about deserted island survival. On top of this, he seems to have a long list of entertaining stories he could tell to pass the time. Joe would just yell at me for having improper coconut harvesting techniques, and Tim would spend all day lounging around working on his tan.

Q: If you were in the coliseum and were challenged to fight wiener dogs, what is the highest number of wiener dogs you could defeat?

A: Zero. I'd be too distracted by their cuteness to even think about fighting them.

Q: Would you rather be the world's greatest racquetball player or have $20 right now?

A: World's greatest racquetball player. I'd then challenge someone who chose the $20 option to this question to a game of racquetball for $20 dollars, beat them (you know, being the best and all), and make them feel like the fool they are.

Q: Which coach would you pick to live on a deserted island with and why?

A: Probably Tim Miles; I think he knows a lot of random/pointless things that would help us get back to civilization.

Q: If you were in the coliseum and were challenged to fight wiener dogs, what is the highest number of wiener dogs you could defeat?

A: I don't like to limit myself. I'll take on as many as you can throw at me.

Q: Would you rather be the world's greatest racquetball player or have $20 right now?

A: I'd rather be the world's greatest racquetball player because that means I would at least be the greatest at something, no matter how pointless it is.

Personal:

The proudest moment of my athletic career was my first dunk or placing 1st in the long jump at my home meet senior year of HS.

I am a Biochemistry major with a minor in Anthropology. My personal goal for my major is to learn as much as I can in 4 years. For my post graduation goals, I would like to go to some kind of graduate school.

I choose SJU because I've had several close family members attend CSB/SJU and I liked the size and proximity to home.

My funniest memory while being on the team is listening to whatever is on Collin Trout's mind while at practice.

Q & A:

Q: Which coach would you pick to live on a deserted island with and why?

A: John because he listens to good music (@ Joe).

Q: If you were in the coliseum and were challenged to fight wiener dogs, what is the highest number of wiener dogs you could defeat?

A: Probably all of them... not sure what to make of this question.

Q: Would you rather be the world's greatest racquetball player or have $20 right now?

A: World's greatest raquetballer. It is a fun sport to play and you could get paid to play professionally. Also, I already have $20.

Personal:

The proudest moment of my athletic career was getting all MIAC (3rd place) sophomore year with a sprained ankle.

My major is Biochemistry and I am on the Pre-Pharmacy track. I plan on going straight to pharmacy school after I graduate. I haven't necessarily chosen one yet but most likely University of Minnesota! I'd like to become a retail pharmacist!

I chose St. John’s because I really enjoyed the sense of community here as well as the connections you make with the community. The people that go to SJU are amazing. I also enjoyed the outdoors aspect the SJU offers.

It’s hard to pick out the funniest moment while on the team with all of the shenanigans that go on during track practice-- especially with the jumpers!!

Q & A:

Q: Which coach would you pick to live on a deserted island with and why?

A: I'd pick Tim because he would have good stories to tell and I have a feeling he'd be good at being resourceful. I don't know this from experience. I'm basing this totally off of intuition.

Q: If you were in the coliseum and were challenged to fight wiener dogs, what is the highest number of wiener dogs you could defeat?

A: With shin guards, like 8,000. Without shin guards... maybe 4.

Q: Would you rather be the world's greatest racquetball player or have $20 right now?

A: $20, the fame is too much to handle.

My proudest moment was running a 4:29 mile at conference in high school.

I am majoring in Finance with a minor Econ. My dream job is to be a financial manager for professional sports players or collegiate sports teams. I would also like to create a small personal business for my art.

I chose St. John's because I liked the cross country team and the traditions we have upheld for many years. I also liked how the college is almost embedded in the woods. Of course, the academics and accounting/finance program are very elite.

The funniest moment was when the middle distance squad was doing 400 repeats outdoors on a nice spring day, and while we were warming up a dog came sprinting down a long driveway. The dog scared a couple teammates who later shook it off and continued getting ready. On the first 400 we passed the driveway with the scary dog, and here comes the dog running after all of us down the street. We picked up the pace and it felt like we were running faster than olympians. Eventually, the dog turned back, but there were some funny reactions out of my teammates.

Q & A:

Q: Which coach would you pick to live on a deserted island with and why?

A: Tim Miles because we could sit in silence and be okay with it when needed. Also, his stories would keep me entertained. The great coach he is would help me train for the olympics.

Q: If you were in the coliseum and were challenged to fight wiener dogs, what is the highest number of wiener dogs you could defeat?

A: 100

Q: Would you rather be the world's greatest racquetball player or have $20 right now?

A: $20 right now, I need new shoes :/
